West Bengal CPI-M MLA jumps to death in Kolkata

Kolkata, May 29 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) A legislator of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) jumped to death from the fourth floor of the MLA Hostel in central Kolkata on Sunday.
Initial reports suggested it as a case of suicide.
Mostafa Bin Kasem, 69, has been representing the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) since 1977 in the state assembly, was elected from Basirhat Uttar in North 24 Parganas district despite a Trinamool Congress wave this time that saw the loss of the Marxists after 34 years.
“It is a suicide apparently,” said former West Bengal Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim.
The MLA was of late not keeping well and he might be suffering from depression, reports said.

A suicide note was found and his body was taken for post-mortem.
