Kolkata, Oct 12 (IANS) The long standing issue of implementation of a tripartite memorandum of settlement of wage revision of workers of ailing wagon makers Braithwaite and Burn Standard was resolved Tuesday by the railway ministry, said an official.
‘The wage revision will benefit at least 1,250 employees of the two companies and will be effective from Oct 1. It will result in an increase of Rs.3500-4,000 per employee per month,’ said spokesperson of the South Eastern Railway (SER) Arun Malakar.
‘In addition, 8.33 percent bonus amounting to Rs.3,500 has been paid to all eligible employees of the two companies,’ added Malakar.
The two ailing state-owned railway equipment manufacturers were taken over by the ministry a few months back. The announcement of takeover of the units was made by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee in her railway budget.
