Unrivaled PSPB win national TT 12th time in trot

Kolkata, Jan 20 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) Bengal’s lass Mouma Das led Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) to win the 72nd Senior National Table Tennis for Women’s Team Championship in a 3-1 results against hosts Bengal in the final at Netaji Indoor Stadium here on Thursday.

The latest triumph was PSPB’s 12th straight win since 1999 and total 15th time after first win in in 1986.
Hosts Bengal, who won the championship last in 1997-98, led the show of the day after their veteran Anindita Chakraborty, ranking
16th, defeated ranked 4th Madhurika Patkar of PSPB 11-3,11-13,11-4,11-9. Anindita in her later 30’s showed her grit, which Bengal
had been counting on her for past two decades.
But 26-year-old Mouma Das lelvelled the score with sweeping power to pack up Bengal’s Kritika Sinha Roy in straight set
11-5,11-9,11-2.

But Bengal bungled when Pallavi Kundu spoiled her four match points in the third set after leading 2-0 against India’s No 2 and PSSB K Shamini.

Pallavi Kundu gave-in to the pressure from her opponent and subsequently lost 11-8,12-10,11-13, 9-11, 6-11 to K Shamini, which subsequently paved way for PSPB to clince the issue.

After that Mouma Das made her employer PSPB happy defeating Anindita Chakraborty in the reverse single 11-7,11-4,13-11,15-13
to deprived Bengal a chance to win the championship in thirteen years.

The umpires in the middle of game had shown red card to rival couches Jayant Pashikar of Bengal and Monalissa Barua Mehta
for violating rules.
