[ReviewAZON display=”searchquery” query=”hospital” count=”5″ category=”All” page=”1″ sort=”default”]The investment will go for constructing the second phase of the institute. It includes an academic block, administrative block, clinical block, residential block, support services and Delhi Organ Retrieval and Banking Organisation.

“The 2nd phase of the ILBS will be commissioned by December 2011 at an estimated cost of Rs.389 crore. The first phase was inaugurated Jan 14, 2010, with an aim to cater to patients affected with liver, biliary and hepatitis in the country and other neighbouring countries,” Dikshit said after a cabinet meeting Monday.

The institute at Vasant Kunj is first of its kind in Asia. Currently it has 155 beds and the number will go up to 353 on completion of the second phase.

The institute aims at amalgamating the academic skills of a university, clinical acumen of the super-specialists and the managerial skills of the corporate world.

The ILBS is all set to develop a world-class state-of-the-art facility which would comprehensively provide a modern set-up for diagnosis and treatment, dedicated research and advanced training in the field of the liver and biliary diseases.

“It is aimed at being an autonomous, professionally self-sustaining teaching institute-cum-Deemed University to impart post-doctoral medical education,” the chief minister said.

Dikshit said construction of the second phase is being carried out by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to ensure further quality and overcome any delay.

The government has already released an amount of Rs.112 crore whereas Rs.150 crore will be released in 2010-11 and rest Rs.127 crore in 2011-12.
