Kolkata, June 7 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Sixteen years old painter Anushka Ghosh is young at age but probably not at heart as she is mature enough to understand problems faced by women in the society.
The young painter expressed her feelings at the inauguration of her first solo painting exhibition titled ‘Solo Canvass’ at Birla Academy of Art and Culture here on Tuesday.
Artist Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya was present at the occasion.
Anushka said: “Though I have captured Kolkata in my paintings but the theme of my painting is domination of women by males. I want women to protest and fight for justice.”
The main source of her inspiration is “the City of Joy” and its people, said Anushka.
In her work of art exposition she has not only brushed the chaos and desolation on canvas but also the love and warmth of Kolkata.
Anushka, who started drawing when she was four, gives credit to her mother who is also a painter, for inspiring her to start painting.
She is now eyeing to showcase her paintings in France.
“I want to visit France and show my paintings over there as it is the place of love and art. Moreover, my idol Leonardo Da Vinci is also from there,” she said with sparkle in her eyes.
The exhibition that includes 46 of her paintings will run till June 10.
