At a Kolkata fashion show, outfits and accessories of the Tagore family were on display. The fashion show, titled “Tagoriana”, was held recently to start Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations. The show focused on showing "Thakubarir" fashion in a way that it will appeal to the youth.
The idea was the brainchild of media consultant Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee. The show had some famous people walk the ramp in sarees, kurtas, etc. used by the Tagores. The show was choreographed by Kathak dancer Rubina Chatterjee and was held at Aqua, The Park.
Some of the people who participated in the show were TV announcer Chaitali Dasgupta, vocalist Soumyajit Das, actors Arindam Sil and Alokananda Ray, stage actress Dolly Basu, etc. Their outfits for the show were brahmo sarees, achkans, zardosi shoes, broaches, etc. While some of the outfits are directly from the Tagore family wardrobe, some of them have been made based on the designs. Whyte and Mackay sponsored the show.
