Ong Bak 2 is a 2008 Thai martial arts film co-directed by and starring Tony Jaa. It is a follow-up to Jaa’s breakout movie Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior. Tian, a boy who aspires to grow up to be like his father, Lord Sihadecho (Santisuk Promsiri), a gallant and loyal warrior. The treacherous and power-craving Lord Rajasena (Saranyoo Wongkrajang) plots to seize total control of the country. He sends out vicious assassins to murder Lord Sihadecho’s family and his loyal soldiers. The only survivor from this massacre is Tian, who manages to escape with deep vengeance in his heart. Tian is then captured and almost killed by slave traders before being saved by Chernang (Sorapong Chatree), leader of the renowned “Garuda’s Wing” guerilla group, who takes Tian in as his adoptive son and raises him up as a bandit. Tian grows up excelling in all kinds of martial arts and war strategies including man-to-man fighting, boxing, incantation, and skills of such war weapons as sword, saber, club, and explosive.With all forms of martial arts instilled, Tian (Tony Jaa) eagers to vanquish the vengeance in his heart by killing Lord Rajasena with his own hands. But he must first get pass Rajasena’s highly-skilled and vicious killers.The battle leads to the origin of the scar of vengeance that comes at a price of one’s blood, flesh and soul. Only unwavering faith can save Tian’s life.

What follows is a journey filled with laughter, tears, joy, pain, music, dance and a lot of love. A journey that makes us believe that there is an extraordinary love story in every ordinary jodi.

Sandipan Chakraborty gave a very positive inaguration speech about the bright future and market of easten – india regional films in other cities and abroad. He mentioned that the turnovers of the regional films like Bengali, Bojpuri and Santhali Films are poor due to lack of proper networking and marketing. He confirmed that Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has decided follow a 4-tier structure to promote these films – financing, developing infrastructure, marketing and sustaining competition. He also mentioned that CII is planning to release regional films simultaneously in multiple states and also promote regional music all over the world. He expressed his thoughts about co-producing films with Banglasesh as they have a huge Bengali population there.

The Film Market -2008 is the common platform for the eastern regional film producers and directors to showcase their good work. The Film Market 2008 is jointly organized by CII, Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA) and the West Bengal state government.
