Brief Review of Bengali Movie Sonar Kella:
Sonar Kella is one the greatest detective movies ever made in the history of Bengali (bangla) Cinema. The famous detective Feluda (Prodosh Chandra Mitra), created by Satyajeet Ray, gets a very unusual case where a small boy remembers his previous life. This little boy, Mukul Dhar, says that he once lived in a golden fortress and he saw ancient battles and more interestingly, there were many precious stones and gemes in his house. Two criminals (Mandar Bose and Bhabananda) reading this report in the newspaper try to kidnap Mukul Dhar but eventually kidnaps another guy named Mukul. In the mean time Mukul Dhar has set off for Rajasthan with a famous parapsychologist Dr. Hazra who, promissed to show Mukul his golden fortress. Being concerned about his childs safety, Mukul Dhar’s father appoints the famous detective Feluda to follow his son to Rajasthan and accompany them. Before Feluda could reach Rajasthan, the criminals try to kill Dr. Hazra pushing him off from high hill. Then Bhabananda disguises himself as Dr. Hazra and joins Mukul in his trip to Sonar Kella. His accomplice, Mandar Bose, disguises himself as a globe traveller. Feluda with his cousin Topse leaves Calcutta for Rajasthan a fews days after Mukul left. On his way he meets the famous detective story writer Jatayu, who accompanies him for the rest of the adventure. When the criminals in disguise meet Feluda at the circuit house in Rajasthan, they try to kill him with poisonous scorpeon but fails. Feluda accompanies the whole group to their trips to different forts eventually he discovers that the Doctor he has been talking to is not the real one. Bhabananda hypnotizes Mukul to get the name of the place where Mukul exactly lived and leaving behind Feluda, Topse and Jayatu travels to Jaisailmir, while Mandar Bose tries to mislead the detectives to Burmair but fails. They try to stop Feluda from reaching Jailsailmir they can but fails. Even on his way to Jaisalmir, Feluda was attacked by Mandar Bose in the train. In the same train, the real Dr. Hazra was travelling. At last Feluda reaches Jailsalmir where he discovers the falls Dr. Hazra and save Mukul.
Soumitra Chatterjee is excellent as Feluda and Santosh Dutta is equally brilliant as Jatayu. The movie is full of numerous humors from Jatayu. It is a very enjoyable movie with lots os suspence in it. It is a good family movie and specially enjoyable for the children. The movie also shows lots of unique features of Rajasthan including the desert Camel, forts, etc. The scene of Jatayu’s camel ride was particularly very enjoyable.Mostly the movie was shooted in Rajasthan. This film deals with certain facts of parapsychology, hypnotism, reincarnation, telepathy which youngsters seems to enjoy a lot. Watch Sonar Kella Online and give back your reply.
