Anu was releases in 1998 in Calcutta. This is one the bengali film that I watched in the movie hall. A classic movie directed by Shatarupa Sanyal. She also wrote the story, did the music direction in the film too. The story revolves around a girl “Anu” (Indrani Haldar) and her fight against society. While she was able to save Nirmalya, an activist, but she was raped by wrong people looking for the”leader” Nirmalya. Her husband was locked up in jail for his activities under a social group. Anu was able to save her husband but could not save herself from social stigma of being raped. However, she was very open minded and thought that at least her husband should not have any problem in future. After long time, her husband was released from jail and come to stay with Indrani Haldar again. He could not stand the fact that his wife was once raped! A classic film that will portray the social status of women in Bengal Society very well. A must watch film for all.

According to Timesofindia, Bonobhumi was supposed to be a “classic” movies as it is based on a novel by “Bimal Kar” however, the movie ended up to be pretty boring! Tryly, Indrani Haldar is the only attraction in this movie. Art direction by Gautam Basu was not as good as it should be. Well, We have ENGLISH SUBTITLE added in this movie, so, if you nothing to do, watch the film. I like Ashish Vidyarthi a lot. Rajesh Sharma and Chanden Sen are also very talented.

Surya Sakkhi was presented by Manjir Films. This is another good movie by Uttam Kumar at late age. The legendary bengali Lyricist Gouriprasanna Majumdar wrote the original story of the movie. Uttam Kumar looked old. Mohua roy Chowdhury looked really cute and beautiful! The movie is again directed by Agradoot. Just yesterday, I wrote an article about Agradoot and their dedication to Uttam Kumar. Just go back few more posts to find movies made by Agradoot with Uttam Kumar, or do a search in our site by “Agradoot”. A good family drama for all. We have awesome music direction by Prabir Majumdar and we also have some beautiful songs by Manna Dey and Arati Mukherjee.

Gajamukta (1991) -Moonmoon Sen Classic Bangla Movie

Gajamukta (1991) -Moonmoon Sen Classic Bangla Movie
Direction: Ajit Lahidi
Story: Narayan Sanyal (Screenplay: Ajit Lahidi, Assistant Screenplay: Nripen ganguly, Balai Sen)
Music Direction: Dr. Bhupen Hazarika
Lyric: Gouri Prasanna Majumdar
Playback Singers: Pratima Pandey, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Samar Hazarika, Sukumar Mitra
Cast: Soumitra Chatterjee, Tom Alter, Gyanesh Mukherjee, Biju Fukan, Abhishek Chatterjee, Pranjal Saikiya, Basabi Nandi, Ratna Das, Moonmoon Sen and Moonmoon Sen
and more…..

Gajamukta remembers poet and philosopher Kazi Nazrul (Khelicho E Biswo Loye).
Moonmoon sen is the main attaction of the movie and she is dashing and also in DOUBLE role! She is sexy, Beautiful, romantic and what not. However, some of the “bath scene” with white sari was probably not required in this movie. Bhupen Hazarika did wonderful music direction. You will simply love the songs in Asamiya tunes. I specially loved the Nozrulgeeti “Khelicho E Biswa Loye”.
A Must watch movie for all.
