Panaji, Nov 24 (Calcutta Tube) Organisers of the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) were left red faced after filmmakers and distributors from southern India staged protests outside a function at an event where Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat was a guest.
Members of the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) and Film Exhibitors Federation alleged that films from the southern region were not being given prominence at the festival.
‘We are not being given prominence. They are not selecting proper films from south India. There are several films which could have been selected for the festival,’ KFCC’s S. Subramaniam told reporters.
Subramaniam alleged that south Indian filmmakers were not given even proper respect during the inaugural ceremony.
