Sonam Kapoor face of India International Jewellery Week

Sonam KapoorMumbai, June 8 (IBNS)  Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor was announced as the brand ambassador of this Asia’s first Jewellery Week aimed at establishing India as the Global Design Destination in Jewellery, said GJEPC.  IIJW 2011 is scheduled from July 31 to August 4, at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai.

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) launched the 2nd edition of India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) in Mumbai on Wednesday.


Rajiv Jain, Chairman, GJEPC, speaking at this occasion said, “IIJW positions India as one of the finest creators of high quality jewellery and is a showcase of India’s prowess in jewellery, be it design, innovation, craftsmanship or quality.


“We are pleased to announce Sonam Kapoor as our brand ambassador who exudes the values of glamour, luxury yet rooted in Indian culture and offers perfect brand fit.”


“I am honoured to be a part of Asia’s first ever jewellery fashion showcasing – IIJW an event that provides a perfect platform for not only established designers and brands in the jewellery business but also encourages young budding talent,” said Sonam.


“To be associated with IIJW is an honour. I am glad that GJEPC has taken this step to place India in the global arena of designer jewellery. I look forward to seeing some exemplary work at the IIJW this July,” she said at the event.

IIJW 2011 will be spread across 5 days with first four days showcasing collections from Designers and Design Houses, with 5th day culminating into a grand finale showcasing best of best of all participants of the Week.


The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council is an all – India apex body for Gem & Jewellery representing 5,500 members.


Set up in 1966, it operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
