Kolkata, May 2, 2011 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Bollywood diva Soha Ali Khan and veteran actor Soumitra Chattopadhyay launched ‘Ruptiti Creations’, a venture in corporate gifts, in Kolkata on Friday evening.
The venture fronted by Biswaranjan Sarkar promises to channelize traditional handicrafts and art forms of India to create an effective inroad into the Rs. 6000 crore organized corporate gist market in India.
“India has a legacy of folk art and tradition and Ruptiti’s creations has a great presence of it,” Soumitra Chattopadhyay said.
“We are here to welcome and accept this new product both within the state as well as out side. Let our dreams be fulfilled through Ruptiti,” he said.
With am aim of highlighting rare folk collections, Ruptiti Creations mostly prepares products made out of cottons, silks, stones, wood, metals, beads, bones and several other natural products and materials.
“The artisans works are not getting time to adopt. They are getting washed away.One day onw will find that these traditional handicrafts have been washed out,” Soha Ali Khan said.
“I hope Ruptiti creations needs the aspirations to be the national presence by the end of this year and reach British and America and help in maintaining the traditional creations world wide,” she said.
The price range of Ruptiti Creations’ products range from Rs. 500 to Rs. 50000.
The wide array of their products range from bedworks, knit, needleworks, pottery, ceramics, quilting, wood carvings to flooring and curtains made of bamboo sourced from interiors of ,amy North Eastern states of India.
“We plan to start a traditional handicraft village in Tamil Nadu. We have already made presentations with the state government and had a round pf meeting with them on the same. They are interested presently the modus operandi is being worked upon. Once thing get further etched out we will be in a position to announce the same,” Biswaranjan Sarkar, CEO of the group said.
