Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto is likely to be present at IFFI 2010

Panaji, Nov 21, 2010 ( Calcutta Tube/IBNS) International film Festival of India (IFFI) 2010 in Goa will have UK produced ‘West is West’ movie kicking off a carnival of movies in this tourist destination.

[ReviewAZON asin=”B001P9KR8U” display=”inlinepost”]The movie by Andy De Emmony is a sequel to ‘East is East’, which is based on Indian origin family from Punjab. ‘West is West’ starring Aqib Khan, Om Puri and Linda Bassett is set at the backdrop of Manchester in UK and the era of 1975.

Director of Film Festival S M Khan told reporters today evening that the UK movie will be the first screening, which has been selected for competition section of international cinema.

“Films from Canada, America and other European countries will compete for prestigious awards. The section was earlier open only to the films from Asia, Africa and Latin American continents,” he said.

The inaugural ceremony scheduled at Kala Academy on November 22 will have legendary film maker Yash Chopra as the chief guest and Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan as the guest.

Union Railway Minister Mamata Benerjee, Goa Governor Dr S S Sidhu and Chief Minister Digambar Kamat are also a part for the inauguration.

The 10-day extravaganza will witness star attractions like Madhuri Dixit, Ila Arun, Subhash Ghai, Manisha Koirala, Rima Sen, Raima Sen, Manoj Baypayee and others who will walk the red-carpet.

Slumdog Millionaire actress Freida Pinto is likely to be present. Whereas, from South film-industry, biggies like Mani Ratnam, veteran film producer Dr D Rama Naidu and Revathy Menon will also descend in Goa for the festival.
