Kolkata, May 17 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): As the entire nation celebrates Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary, singer Ruprekha Banerjee joins the bandwagon with her new album to pay tribute to the Bard.
Ruprekha launched her album ‘Niruddesh Yatra’ on Monday along with composer Anirban Das.
The Bengali album ‘Niruddesh Yatra’ is a compilation of some famous poems of Rabindranath Tagore, the tune and the music of which were revealed by Ruprekha and Anirban.
Ruprekha said: “I am extremely excited about the project. I feel that the tunes for the poems that have been experimentally composed by Anirban are very much perfect for the lyrics and ‘angik’ of Tagore’s songs.”
“Though I have done a Rabindra Sangeet album before, this one is undoubtedly very special. This has a very bold approach. I hope everyone likes it,” added the versatile singer.
Composer Anirban said: “I have tried to make a new approach. Ruprekha’s intense and magical voice has undoubtedly enriched the album and has done justice to my compositions.”
Goutam Ghosal, another noted musician who was present at the event, said: “It is a wonderful effort put forth by Ruprekha and Anirban. I am looking forward to listen to the compositions.”
All the singers and musicians present at the event voiced against piracy.
