Shimla to host film fest from March 18

Shimla, March 12 (Calcutta Tube) Award-winning documentaries and short and animation films from India and abroad will be screened at the Shimla International Film Festival (SIFF) March 18-20, an official said here Saturday.

The Films Division of India, which has been organising the Mumbai International Film Festival since 1990, is partnering with the state government to conduct the festival, the first in its series in the state, a government spokesperson told IANS.

The information and broadcasting ministry’s Directorate of Film Festivals held a three-day Indian Panorama Film Festival at the 123-year-old Gaiety Theatre in May last year.

The festival would be held at the Gaiety Theatre, which has been the centre of cultural activities in Shimla right from the day it opened in 1887.
