Kolkata, Feb 11 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): A special cover album on late cricketer Nawab Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi by India Post was released on Friday. It was handed over to Sharmila Tagore, his wife and Bollywood actor, at the India Post Cup cricket tournament.
S.K. Chakrabarti, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle and Chitrak Mitra, Vice- President, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the special cover in the presence of Tagore.
“Had he been here today, he would feel very happy,” Sharmila Tagore said.
“We met in this city (Kolkata), got married here and have beautiful memories and many memorable incidents here,” she said.
Chakrabarti said, “Pataudi was nawab in real life but when he was in the cricket field he was the nawab of cricket.”
Chitrak Mitra said, “In the sixties, he was the most glamorous cricketer of that time and he showed the way that India can beat any team of the world.”
The 3rd India Post Cup cricket tournament was held at the Jadavpur University second campus at Salt Lake on Friday.
Final match was held between Indian Income Tax and BSNL.
Indian Income Tax defeated BSNL by 8 wickets and lifted the India Post Cup.
