Director Info: PREMENDRSA MITRA
Premendra Mitra (1904-1988) was a renowned Bengali poet, novelist ,short story writer and a filmmaker. He has also written Bangla science fiction stories and thrillers. Premendra Mitra was born in Varanasi, India. As his father was an employee of the Indian Railways, he had a great opportunity to travel to many places in India. He went to South Suburban School (Main) and laterto Scottish Church College in Calcutta for his education. Premendu Mitra wanted to be a physician in his early years of colleage and studied the natural sciences. Later he started out his career as a school teacher. He also tried to do business, but failed. It is only when he re-discovered his talents in creative writing, he became successful. He was a Bengali professor at City College in north Calcutta.He also edited Bengali journals and news-magazines like Kollol, Kali Kalam, Banglar Kotha, Bongobani, Songbad, among others.
