Rural football tourney reaches finale tomorrow

Murshidabad (West Bengal), Feb 4 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Allsport Foundation on Friday announced the grand finale of the 3rd edition of the KKM Rural Football, Carrom and Chess tournament to be held at Mackenzie Park, Raghunathgunj, in Murshidabad district’s Jangipur town.

The 3rd edition of the tournament that commenced on 30 October 2010, was spread over a period of more than three months with more than 4320 footballers and 240 teams participating from the entire district.

This year the final match of the football tournament will be held between Dhuliapahari Laljongi Club of Farakka and Mohammedpur Tiger Club on February 5 from 3 pm onwards.

Alongside the football tournament, a carrom and a chess tournament were conducted in memory of Late Kamoda Kinkor Mukhopadhyay.

Both these tournaments have infused tremendous enthusiasm among the local mass with more than 100 participants participating in the KKM Rural Chess tournament while the KKM Rural Carom tournament saw a participation of over 300 carom enthusiasts.

Khargram emerged as the champion in the Carom tournament while Raghunathgunj II ended up as runner up in a match that incited tremendous excitement and adrenaline rush.

Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will be present at the prize distribution ceremony to give away the prizes.
