Kolkata, Sept 18 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS): Spectators were greeted to a dazzling evening here on last Sunday, as the two divas, Mandira Bedi and Raima Sen sizzled the ramp in the most beautifully designed outfits at the Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour.
Mandira Bedi graced the event for Mandira Wirk, while Bengali beauty Raima Sen walked on the ramp for designer Surily Goel.
Speaking about her designs and fabrics, designer Mandira Wirk said, “Gold dust, spicy orange, neon, oyster grey, are some of the shades that I have used while designing the outfits for tonight.”
“I do lot of research for casting trends, I never use fabric like that as I believe in texturing my fabrics, then I style them,” she added.
She also said that she believes that style and accessories go hand in hand with each other and this was clearly echoed in ramp when her models walked on the runway.
Designer Nandita Mahtani said that it was the first time that she was showcasing her designer clothes in Kolkata, where she has mostly used colours like indigo black, emerald green, black, and slate grey outfits for the night’s event.
“Georgette, chiffon, silk are the fabrics that I have used this time,” she added.
Moreover, Surily Goel mentioned that she has specially designed ‘Indian outfits’ for this show, which is completely different from her trend, as she mostly prepares Western dresses.
“Indian itself makes it different as I do lot of Western,” she said, over the question that what newness she was offering to the audience in Kolkata.
“Emerald green, maroons, gold are the colours that I have used in preparing the kurtas and sarees that I have designed for tonight,” she added.
She also said that to her fashion ‘is all about comfort’.
“I strongly believe that a garment should not only make you look good but it should also uplift one’s mood and frame of mind,” she added.
Wendell Rodricks, also one of the designers of the night, said, “As people like to wear bright and shining clothes during festivals so I have used colours like yellow, orange, red, bright peacock, grey and brown in my designs.”
Wendell said that he was not using any accessories and has used all silver coloured footwear for the night’s event.
But interestingly all the designers have agreed to a particular point that the city has become much more fashion-conscious than before.
“I feel that people in Kolkata are ready to experiment with fashion as well, I am happy with the fact that Kolkata is coming up with fashion also,” Mandira Wirk said.
Agreeing with Wirk, Surily Goel said, “Kolkata is now a good market for fashion; we choose Kolkata a spot for our show.”
The two day fashion extravaganza had begun on Saturday where designers like Shantanu Nikhil, Raghavendra Rathore Rahul and Gunjan and Asmita Marwah had showcased their designs.
While on Sunday night it was Mandira Wirk, Surily Goel, Nandita Mahtani and Wendell Rodricks collections that the city enjoyed.
The 6th edition of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour, a fashion extravaganza that came to the City of Joy after scorching the ramps in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Mumbai, is headed for Bangalore later this month.
