No, it is not Rajat Kapoor. It is the Tollywood King Prosenjit who will be seen as the very famous detective Byomkesh Bakshi (created by author Sharadindu Bandopadhyay) in multiple upcoming film series by Rituparno Ghosh. A full featured film on Byomkesh Bakshi was last done by Satyajit Ray in 1967. Uttam Kumar played Byomkesh in one of the most intriguing Byomkesh story in the movie. The movies will be produced by Rose Valley Productions.

The first Byomkesh movies in the series will be Arthamonortham followed by Noukodubi. Prosenjit has never dont the role of a detective and we are very extited with his latest venture. With the success of Feluda films one after another, we can not wait for more Bengali Thrillers.
