Vijaywada, Aug 8 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) Lambasting the central government, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Sunday said the ruling regime must explain its stand on the ties of the Maoists and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee as “exposed” by the rebels’ support of her rally in Lalgarh on Aug 9.
“The Trinamool Congress rally is supported by the Maoists. This is virtually a joint collaboration between the two.
“We would like to know from the Centre, how do they view this development?” said Prakash Karat at a press conference on the discussions at the Extended Central Committee meeting of the CPI(M) here.
He said the Union Home Minister (P Chidambaram) had said there was no proof of the Maoists’ ties with Mamata Banerjee but the open support of the rebels to Mamata’s rally is a clear proof.
Both the Maoists and the Maoist-backed People’s Committee against Police Atrocities’ (PCPA) have supported the proposed rally of Mamata at Lalgarh.
Military strategist of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) Koteswar Rao alias Kishenji on Thursday asked the people of Jangalmahal to join the anti-terror rally convened by the Trinamool Congress chief.
