Satyajit Ray on ‘Pikoo’ : Pikoo is a very complex film. It is a poetic statement which cannot be reduced to concrete terms. One statement the film tries to make is that, if a woman is to be unfaithful, if she is to have an extramarital affair, she can’t afford to have soft emotions towards her children, or, in this case, her son. The two just don’t go together. You have to be ruthless. Maybe she’s not ruthless to that extent. She’s being very Bengali. A European in the same circumstances would not behave in the same way.

  1. Thier is no prescribed time of repentance, when ever you realise it, think that day is great becuase on that very day, your soul is both happy from the enjoy of freedom and sorrow about the dark past, No matter how big your mistake may be, anyone who truely ask god for forgiveness and sincerely repents ,even this world may not forgive him , but god definately does, ask not peoples but god for forgiveness and dont again walk on the same path to prove god that you have understood your mistake and sincerely repented , i think its only the great saythajeet roy who could have imagined and could created such a movie , but greater is idea and understanding which he wants to leave to the veiwers, the diffrence between temptation and love, between satisfication and sacrifice.
