Kolkata, May 2, (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Kolkata relived the magic of legendary Indian director Satyajit Ray on Friday evening as a book titled ‘Manik-Da: Memories of Satyajit Ray’ by renowned photographer Nemai Ghosh was launched at a city bookstore.
Published by Harper Collins Publishers India, the book highlights the camaraderie between the ace Indian director and Nemai Ghosh, as it contains over fifty unseen photos of Ray.
“I shared a good relationship with Manik da (as Satyajit Ray was popularly called) and his family,” Ghosh said.
“He never used to appreciate my photographs in front of me. But his love was reflected from the fact that one day he suddenly told me to present him all the four photographs I had taken,” he said.
“Moreover it was from his facial expressions that I could sense that whether he has liked my photographs or not, but he never appreciated them in front of me,” the ace photographer said.
Nemai Ghosh said that he has learned values like sincerity, honesty and discipline from Ray.
He also revealed his future plans of publishing more unseen photographs of Ray in the coming years.
Popular director Rituparno Ghosh released the book on Friday.
