Kolkata, Nov 14 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals launched the second Sugar Clinic in Kolkata on the occasion of World Diabetes Day on Monday.
Dr Rupali Basu said during the launch of the Sugar Clinic, “Management of diabetes in India is currently scattered and fragmented. This results in sub-optimal control of blood sugars and high incidence of complications. The concept of pre-diabetes is non-existent in India and thus we are losing an opportunity to prevent / delay onset of diabetes in a large section of population.
Dr Tirthankar Choudhury, Senior Consultant – Endocrinology at Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals said, “We are providing a truly world class diabetes disease management program at the Sugar Clinic by introducing evidence based practice as a formidable tool to decide on treatment strategies in diabetes.”
The first Sugar Clinic was launched by Apollo Gleneagles at their Gariahat Centre and the hospital plans to have three more such clinics in different parts of the city.
