Paromitar Ekdin is a National Award Winning Bengali  film that explores both sides of friendship and loneliness. Aparna Sen plays Sanaka, the mother in law to Rituparna Sengupa as Paromita. Despite the difference between their age, they have a very strong relationship and bonding between themselves. However, Paromita has to go for a divorce with Sanaka’s son and remarries to start her life fresh. Sanaka is now left alone and without her friend. She becomes very ill and Paromita returns to treat her as best as she can in Sanaka’s deathbed.
