Kolkata, Feb 19 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) Orissa and West Bengal became the third and fourth team to book their places in the semi-final after the last group league encounters played Saturday in the Coca Cola Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy for U-16 Boys.
Orissa defeated Goa 3-1 in a gripping encounter, while Bengal were held to a goalless draw by Uttar Pradesh.
In others matches Saturday, Assam thrashed Madhya Pradesh 7-1, while Tripura and Kerala played out 1-1 draw at Barasat Stadium, Kolkata.
Lalzeiren scored a fluent hat-trick for Assam, while Johnsongate scored a brace with Geremsha Basumatry and Dinesh Hajowary scoring a goal each in Assam’s 7-1 impressive victory over Madhya Pradesh.
Bengal collected seven points from three matches after sharing points with Uttar Pradesh, while Assam finished second with six points from three as many matches in Group D.
Orissa and Goa locked their horns in the decider from Group B, but it was Orissa who came all guns blazing and marked a superb 3-1 victory over Goa to make their way into the Semis.
Orissa will now take on Jharkhand, while Mizoram will play West Bengal in the semi-finals to be played on Feb 21 at the Mohun Bagan ground.
Bikash Chandra Padhiry, Samal Majhi and Prasenjit Bag found the target for Orissa, while Cuan Gomes scored in the lone goal for Goa.
