Lucknow, Jan 25 (Calcutta Tube) Uttar Pradesh will not showcase its tableau in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi this year, as the themes suggested by the state for its tableau have not been approved by the concerned authorities, an official said Monday.
‘There will be no tableau from Uttar Pradesh as the committee responsible for approving the themes of tableaux for the Republic Day, has not approved the three themes highlighting different social schemes of the state government,’ Director of State Information Directorate Ajay Upadhyay told IANS.
‘We have learnt that from the entire North India, only Uttarakhand will get the opportunity to participate in the annual parade as its theme for tableau has been approved by the committee,’ he added.
According to officials, the three themes were based on the schemes-Balika Samridhi Yojna (poor girls receiving Rs.1 lakh when they turn 18), Mahamaya Balika Shiksha Madad Yojna (financial assistance to girls of below poverty line families in their education) and Kisan Pension Yojna (farmers’ pension scheme).
It’s not the first time that Uttar Pradesh will not participate in the Republic Day parade. ‘On a number of occasions in the past also, it has happened as the tableaux themes proposed by the state were not approved by the committee,’ said Upadhyay.
