Kolkata, Oct 29 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Pianist Soma Ghosh launched her first Rabindrasangeet album ” Sur Er Guru Dao He Sur Er Diksha “ at Music World in Kolkata recently.
Bengali writer Sunil Gangopadhyay and filmmaker Gautam Ghosh were present at the event.
On the 150th birth anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore, the album is a tribute to the world poet and musician, said the singer.
The album was presented by the famous retail chain of Bengali sweets ‘Banchharam’. It was their first association with a music album.
It has been leveled by UD series and the music was arranged by Rishi Kumar Chatterjee.
Writer Sunil Gangopadhyay, who has christened the album, said, “This music album is something new and inspiring.”
He said that the effect of instrumental music is sometimes more impressive and efficacious than vocal sound.
“I heard the music in my car and was humming the tune while coming to this music launch,” he said.
The album along with the lead piano also include other instruments like violin, flute, sitar and sarod.
Director Gautam Ghosh said that the addition of musical instruments like ‘chelo’ and ‘metal flute’ in Ghosh’s album would have made it more effective.
Soma Ghosh had been performing regularly in the Netherlands for the last three years. She has also performed in Belgium and Germany. Soma Ghosh had completed the fifth grade from London School of Music.
