Kolkata, Oct 30, 2010 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) Subair Muritala Ali continued to show his devastating form with his brilliant two strikes in 4-0 win over middle rung Kalighat Club in Sahara Calcutta Football League (CFL) at their home ground on Saturday.
Souvik Chakraborty nodded home first on eighteen minutes, before Jose Ramirez Barreto’s free kick hit home on 30 minutes.
Ali’s two strikes helped Mohun Bagan to seal five victories at a stretch with total 22 points from nine games.
But the winners of 29 times are still 11 points behind from arch rivals East Bengal, who have played 11 matches so far before going to play in the Durand Cup in Delhi.
Technically, the Stanley Rozario’s coaching side is now second behind East Bengal in CFL position.
Holders Mohun Bagan dominating the proceeding struck within 18 minutes when Souvik Chakraborty nodded home a cross from Kaushik Debnath and Barreto’s 7th goal this season came from a scintillating free kick.
Just at the edge of box the Brazilian with two steps righter footer beat KC goalkeeper Shambu Mistry.
After their goals, Muritala Ali began to show his scoring skill and his first goal of the day came from chest. As a lofty right flank cross from Gouranga Dutta beat Mistry the unmarked Nigerian chested down the ball into the net.
His second and fourth goal for Mohun Bagan came from the penalty kick after Muritala was floored by a KS defender in the 69th minute.
Muritala, who scored a hattrick in the previous game, now leads the scorer list with 12 goals in this league.
He is also the only player to have scored hattrick twice in domestic league. Kalighat remained on sixteen points from 11 games.
