Mullick Bari-New Bengali Movie review by CT contributor Kanishka

“Mallick bari” is a movie revolving around the occupants of a house. The  Landlady is Supriya Devi.Among the occupants are Bratyo (Biswanath), Rudra (Kanchan), Ritwick. Each character in this movie has a story to tell and the tales are meant to be different and contemporary. We have a couple Anindya and Mouli.

There are too many characters, too many subplots; an attempt to make it a Mixed bag of horror, thriller, comedy, romance .But despite everything, there is frankly nothing that interests you. The characters have not been properly established. The genre of the film is not clear and the director seems confused himself regarding the approach to the movie. The songs are unnecessary; actors are never provided the scope to act with those small roles. Supriya Devi, Sabyasachi,Paoli are the ones who succeed in leaving some impression.

The idea was there, so was an ensemble cast, but this movie needed a much better storyline and direction in the first place. With subdued promotion and lack of big stars, this movie has no chance to succeed.

Mullick Bari Movie Rating: 0.5/5 by Kanishka

  1. Upperstall.Com has provided a great detail of the Chitrabani Film Institure. I recommend all to check out their review too. Very informative-

“These two realizations motivated us to enter into film production,” says Father PJ Joseph, Director, Chitrabani and co-director of Chitrabani’s first feature film in Bengali, Mullick Bari. “Mullick Bari is a mainstream film and it is for commercial release. It has social messages too. However, I do not want to label it as a commercial or an art film because there is widespread misconception about this labeling. When a film does well at the box office, it is considered ‘commercial’ and when it does not, we call it an ‘art’ film,” is Father Joseph’s comment.”
