The prints of the Bengali films made in Silent Era are mostly gone. Even very few prints are available for earlier talkies by Pramathesh Barua, Durgadas Banerjee etc. Even some of the earlier Uttam Kumar movies are in a very pathetic condition. The future generation of Bengali Audience may not even get a chance to watch some of the greatest films made by Satyajit Ray or Ritwick Ghatak! Other regional language films including Hindi, Telegu, Tamil, Malayam etc are much better preserved.
