March 2 (Calcutta Tube): MON AMAR SHUDHU TOMAR is a 2010 Bengali Movie directed by Raj Mukherjee starring Sujoy and Priyadarshini. The film is produced under produced under P.B. Films banner. Read the complete detail, reviews and rating of the upcoming Bengali Film.
Pankaj Agrawal is a promising producer. On the heels of two productions, he is ready with the third, produced under his P.B. Films banner. Mon Amar Shudhu Tomar is a love story that features Sujoy and Priyodarshini, two comparative newcomers bubbling with freshness and youth, in the romantic lead. Raj Mukherjee has directed the film and also done the screenplay. He has also joined forced with lyricists Gautam-Susmit to pen some of the lyrics of the eight song tracks in the film. Others in the cast are Kharaj Mukherjee, Shankar Chakraborty, Kamalika Banerjee and others.
Raj Mukherjee honed his skills in direction beginning nearly a decade ago with Mala Badal starring Prosenjit. Over the years, he continued the trend with Bhoomiputra, Love Story, Mr. Funtoosh, Raatbhor, Nagordola, Lakhyabhed and Tapasya. Some of the films were hits while some flopped. But producer Pankaj Agrawal who has backed Raj’s ventures earlier, is doing it again. Agrawal had done will with several productions within a brief span of time. His films are Mr. Funtoosh, Krodh, Mon Amar and the under-production film Kokhono Biday Bolona.
The storyline, credited to Ranadhar De, appears suspiciously similar to the storyline of Prem Amar released a few months ago. Directed by Raj Chakraborty, Prem Amar, the copyright of the film was bought by producers Shree Venkatesh from the makers of 9/G Rainbow Colony (2004), a Tamil hit directed by Selvaraghavan. The film was released simultaneously with its Telugu dubbed version titled 9G Brindhavan Colony. While Prem Amar featured Soham Chakraborty and Payal Sharma in the romantic lead, here we find a slightly different pair because Pori (Priyodarshini) portrays a hep, urban girl who has no qualms about moving around in shorts and prancing with Shsanu (Sujoy) her lover in skimpy dresses. If the promos are anything to get by, she carries them quite well too. Shanu who Pori initially avoids because of his crude ways and vagabond lifestyle, takes up painting to earn his living and impress Pori who belongs to a social class higher than the one Shanu comes from. Do they finally find love together? Or, do Pori’s parents put their feet down and insist on her marrying Badsha, a boy they had already chosen for her? Telliing anymore will spoil the fun of those who would love to watch the film.
Mon Amar Shudhu Tomar has eight song tracks set to music by Shubhayu with a eminent singers having lent their voices for the playback. Among them are Zubin, Shaan, Babul Supriyo, Priya Bhattacharya, Pamela Jain, Javed and Shahid. Babul Roy has done the cinematography and Tapas Chakraborty has edited the film.
Mon Amar Shudhu Tomar is scheduled for a March 12 release.
