Mohan Bagan win, Air India down Dempo, Salgoacar beat JCT

Kolkata/Pune/Fatroda, Jan 23 (Clacutta Tube IBNS) Edeh Chidi’s brace gave Mohun Bagan’s third win on trot (2-0) over AIFF XI in a Round XI match played at Yuba Bharati Krirangan here on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker first hit home in 11th minute and then 81st minute to put Bagan on 5th place with 11 points and AIFF XI remained on 11th position with 10 points after 11 games.
Ishfaq Ahmed set up both the goals for Chidi, who so far scored six goals in this edition.
In Pune Air India produced the biggest upset of I-League 2010-11 so far trouncing holders Dempo SC 4-0 at the match played at the Balewadi Sports Complex.

Already having a roller coaster ride in the I-League, defending champions suffered their second straight defeat , earlier going down to their local rivals Salgaocar 3-1 in a round X encounter.

Manjit Singh opened the riot in the 13th minute after Ranty Martins failed to convert from the spot in the 6th minute. Uttam Kumar Singh then doubled Air India’s lead in the 25th minute as scoreline read 2-0 at the break.
After the break, confident Airmen   took the game away from the Armando Colaco coached side  as Samson Singh made it 3-0 in the 55th minute. Okorogor Praise then put the final nail in Dempo’s coffin scoring down the wire to mark an impressive victory.
Air India goalkeeper Kunal Sawant was adjudged Man of the Match for his clinical performance under the bar.

At Fatroda in Goa Ryuji Sueoka and Francis Fernandes found the target for Karim Bencherifa-coached side as Salgaocar SC register their eight win in the I-League scoring a facile 2-0 over JCT at Nehru Stadium.

Salgaocar, adopting an attacking approach from the start, dominated the midfield and made several inroads into the rival box with quick short passes.
Salgaocar’s persistent effort brought fruit in the 32nd minute after coming close to scoring twice.
Salgaocar defender Jaspal Parmar, who moved on top on the right flank, sent a high cross in the box, Ryuji Sueoka leaped high to head the ball into the far corner beating rival keeper Naveen Kumar.
JCT, who came with few counter moves, nearly equalize three minutes later when Jagpreet Singh’s fierce shot from a free kick deflected rival defender and was going into the goal but Salgaocar’s alert keeper Karanjit Singh made a diving save to deny JCT an equalizer.
JCT, who raised their game in the second half, had another chance to equalize but substitute Sakatar Singh diving header off a lob from Lalchhuanmania from the left missed the target narrowly in the 70th minute.
Salgaocar then increased the lead when Francis Fernandes scored in the 79th minute.
Salgaocar skipper  Luciaso Sabrosa was adjudged Man of the Match for his solid performance at the heart of defence.
