Mumbai, June 14 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) At the shoot of this week’s episode of Zee TV’s DID L’il Masters, the entire team planned a big surprise for Grandmaster Mithun Chakraborty to make him feel extra-special on his B-Day.
An unsuspecting Dada was brought blindfolded on to stage to find a huge cake along with the entire team all dressed up in “Bong” style as a tribute to his eastern roots.
Geeta, of course, was dressed in the traditional Bengali sari replete with heavy jewellery and a bindi.
The kids were only too excited to celebrate Mithunda’s birthday and had brought him a cake with a collage of his pictures as a “Disco Dancer” on the top.
Paying a tribute to Mithun Da’s trademark style of dancing, each of the skippers – Raghav – the ‘Crockroaz’, Kruti, Neerav & Prince performed to some of his most famous dance hits from the 70’s and 80’s.
The kids too made it a point to shower Dada with gifts. Om (from Guwahati) gifted Dada the traditional Assamese cap and shawl while the parents of the contestants got together to assemble every possible Bengali sweet they could lay their hands on and made sure that Dada was well-fed.
A touched Mithun was taken aback with the preparations that went into the celebration.
“I do not usually celebrate my birthday outside my home. It is only due to my daughter’s enthusiasm for birthday celebrations that I indulge in it even at home, otherwise I am not usually a person who is big on birthday celebrations,” Mithun said.
“However, the immense effort and planning that has gone into planning this celebration for me is really touching. Seeing these kids going out of their way to make my birthday special, is something that I will not forget. This has truly been a memorable birthday for me!” said Mithun.
This week, the competition gets underway with thirteen contestants vying for the last two spots to make it into the Final Top 10 as the Wild Card round commences on Saturday.
