Kolkata, Sept 26, 2010 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) Medics at state-owned SSKM Hospital in south Kolkata resorted to an indefinite strike on Saturday after some aggrieved relatives allegedly assaulted one of their colleagues inside the health facility.
The junior doctors said they would not join to work unless they were assured of proper security for the staff and other working people inside the hospital.
They alleged they are often assaulted and manhandled discharging duty.
Some persons attacked an emergency ward junior doctor and other medical staff after a patient died of serious injuries. The iinterns and house-staff have also joined the cease work.
Patients have been affected by the cease work hitting even the emergency ward, outpatients department and other blocks in the hospital.
