Swift is manufactured by Maruti Suzuki the leading car maker in India. The swift is a new addition to an already overloaded stable of Maruti Suzuki Ltd. Started as Maruti Udyog; Maruti’s first car Maruti 800 satisfied the ordinary Indian’s dream of owning a small family car. Maruti 800 is a car that suited the pot-holed Indian roads. The other attractive factor is the price. For a cost conscious Indian consumer the price of a Maruti 800 was very much within his budget. Maruti Swift the sedan version released by Maruti, is known for its style and quickness.

The 1.3L DOHC DDis engine of the Maruti Swift is highly functional. The torque is 190 at 2000 rpm, 75 ps power at 4000 rpm. It is also highly fuel efficient with 15.8 lm/liter on the highways and 10.4 km/liter on city roads with an average of 11.5 km for each liter.
The great pick up of 60 km/. Hr within 5.09 seconds is really amazing. You will go crazy on driving this car. There is not much gear shifting involved making it easy to drive on the city roads.
The turbo engine of Marti Swift is the first of its kind in India. The Turbo charger inside the car helps to push the gases out at a higher speed. This in turn increases the speed of the car. The BOV valves helps to maintain the pressure of the gases inside and lets of the excess pressure inside the engine.
Design
Swift has an ultra curvy design which gives it a sporty look. The five door sedan can accommodate a maximum 5 passengers. There is enough leg space. In the rear is a parcel tray which consumes boot space. Otherwise there would be more leg space for the passenger. The VDI version of the car has a tachometer, driver seatbelt warning and headlight on reminder which gives the car more comfort and convenience. The other USP is the rear electric windows which is rare in other cars.
Safety features
The main drawback of Maruti Swift is the lack of some safety features. There is no antilock braking system and airbags. The car also lacks the independent suspension on the rear though this does not have the impact on the car. The absence of such safety features does not have an impact on the sales of the car. The other disadvantage is the lack of power mirrors, you need to adjust the mirrors manually is an inconvenience to most drivers.
