Kolkata, July 8 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will reportedly change the name of the state to climb the alphabetical order.
“We have seen in all state meets that our turn comes right at the end, we face grave problems. In fact people doze off when our turn comes. So changing a name will be better,” state Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee told reporters.
The probable suggestions include Bengal, Banga and Bangla.
However, Left Front chairman Biman Bose said it was the earlier government’s decision to change the name and hence it’s not something ‘new’ suggested by the Trinamool Congress-government.
“This was decided by the earlier Left Front governments. So no question of opposing what the new government is thinking,” said Bose.
Banerjee took oath as the eleventh Chief Minister of West Bengal on May 20 and gained control of Writers’ Buildings, the red-painted edifice of power in the control of Left Front for 34 years.
