Mamata Banerjee likely to fly to Delhi tomorrow

Kolkata, Aug 17 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS)  Faced with criticism from the Opposition in the Lok Sabha for her prolonged absence, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is nursing foot injuries she suffered on August 9 car accident, is expected to fly to New Delhi on Wednesday to attend to business relating to her ministry in Parliament, said Trinamool Congress sources on Tuesday.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) member Basudeb Acharya told the House that prolonged absence of the Railway Minister was adversely affecting the day-to-day work of the Indian Railways as no junior minister is equipped enough to handle the situation.

Discussions on demands for supplementary grants of the Railway Ministry are scheduled for August 19 and 20 in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively.

Party sources said the minister was recovering fast though she also had slight throat infection.
