Kolkata, Sept 10 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS): Union Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday inaugurated a nursing college here at Garden Reach.
Part of her Bengal-bounty announced in the railways’ budget, the nursing college was built at an estimated cost of Rs 26.26 crore.
She also said apart from Kolkata nursing colleges will also be opened in Delhi, Kalyan, Chennai, Secunderabad, Lucknow and Jabalpur.
Banerjee said these nursing colleges would facilitate the general public including the wards of railway employees in finding a good vocational avenue.
The Administrative Block, with a floor area of 2200 sq mts will have Lecture Halls, Nursing Foundation Lab, Nutrition Lab, CHN, OBC & Paediatric Lab, Pre-Clinical Science Lab, Computer Lab, Library, Staff Rooms and other teaching aids.
The Hostel Building with a floor area of 2860 sq mts will have single and double bedded rooms for students to stay and will also have facilities like Recreation Room, Dining Hall, Reading Room etc.
