Kolkata, Dec 5, 2010 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS): Kolkata witnessed a unique rally on Sunday morning as blind people participated in a rally as navigators to celebrate the occasion of ‘World Disability Day on Sunday.
In this rally a route chart was provided to the navigator in Braille for the navigator to translate the route to the driver of the car.
“I believe this is a revolution. It shows their complete determination. I feel they can interact easily with normal people and lead a normal life,” actress Rituparna Sengupta, who was present at the flagg-off, said..
“There should be more such initiatives, everything has an importance. I feel in 3-4 months these kinds of initiatives should be taken and events like these should be organized,” renowned painter Wasim Kapoor said.
Altogether 40 people participated in the rally that started in the morning..
The event was organized by the The Calcutta Round Table No. 41 and National Association of Blind.
It was technically powered by the Friendship Car Rally Association (FCRA).
