Kolkata, Sept 13 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) The tiny students of Kolkata’s South City International School celebrated ‘Grandparents Day’ on Monday, as a mark of love and respect for their adored elders.
The event commenced with the welcoming speech of John Bagul, Principal, South City International School followed by a colorful fancy dress competition among the little students dedicated to their grandparents who proudly admired their talented grandkids.
“Grandparents Day is an occasion to pay our respect and show our gratitude to them, who have always been there by our side, pampered us endlessly and made our lives an enjoyable ride of fun, frolic and excitement,” said Bagul.
An entertaining performance by the grandparents which also trailed the fancy dress competition, received rounds of applause and a standing ovation from the grandchildren.
The occasion was graced by the presence of West Bengal Public Health and Engineering Minister Subroto Mukhopadhyay, who was impressed by the performance of the kids and the elders.
He said, “This is a praiseworthy initiative on part of the school because every child must appreciate and value their grandparents and there is no better way to instill these feelings than these fun-filled activities.”
