Kolkata Politics: Ex-CPM MP kins held for forgery

Kolkata, June 10 (IBNS) Former Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) MP Sarla Maheswari’s husband and father-in-law were arrested on Sunday for forming an organisation by allegedly faking PAN cards and Ration card.

Arun Maheswari, husband of Sarla Maheswari, and her son-in-law Amitabh Kejriwal were arrested and then produced in a court which remanded them in 10-day police custody.

They were arrested by the Bidhannagar Commissionarate Police.

The duo had allegedly used to open new organisations with fake cards and then apply for government plots.

The father-in-law-son-in-law duo said they were innocent after they were held from Salt Lake.
Amitabha Kejriwal was also in March last year on the charge of forging a land deed.
Meanwhile, media reports said even after arrest the duo were treated like VIPs by the police and allowed to travel in their AC cars after they were held.
