Kolkata Knight Riders coach Dav Whatmore to train junior Bengal cricketers

Kolkata, Aug 17 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS)  World  Cup winning coach Dav Whatmore will train Bengal ‘s junior players in addition to his present assignment as the chief coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Cricket Association of Bengal’s (CAB) president Jagmohan Dalmiya said on Tuesday that 56-year-old Whatmore has been assigned to train junior players under-14, 16 and 19 of the CAB’s cricket academy set up at Kalyani.

The Sri-Lanka born Australian, who guided the Island nation to win ICC World Cup in 1996, will also train CAB coaches for all-round development of the game in the state, Dalmiya said after the CAB’s Working Committee meeting.

Whatmore will also help W B Ramon, who has been appointed as chief coach of senior Bengal, in the build of the side this season.
The senior Bengal side will start training from September 1.

Dalmiya also informed that former India captain Sourav Ganguly will retain his post of chairman for Cricket Development Committee in which Asoke Malhotra, Arun Lal and Pranob Nandy are other three members.
