Kolkata, Feb 15 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) will host the 17thInternational Leather Goods Fair (ILGF) in Kolkata from February 18-20.
Council for Leather Exports (CLE) and Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA) will collaborate with ITPO in organising the fair.
Announcing this in a curtain raiser press conference in Kolkata on Wednesday, Neeraj Kumar Gupta, Executive Director, ITPO said that about 30 buyers are expected to visit the fair this year.
Already 19 buyers from countries like Canada, Cyprus, Dubai, Germany, Holland, Mauritius, Malaysia, New Zealand, Poland, Spain and UK have confirmed their participation.
Gupta informed that leather goods form 27-28% of Indian exports and 52% of the exported leather goods is from the eastern part of the country.
India exports 3% of leather goods of the world. The fair will showcase leather goods including industrial leather goods. ITPO wants to bring leather goods machineries in the fair also, Gupta said.
He underlined the fact that the leather industry currently employs 2.5 million people and “surely,we have potential to grow”.
