Kolkata, April 14 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): The Diageo Reserve World Class, an international bartending competition, took place in Kolkata on Wednesday to test capability of the city’s bartenders.
The Diageo Reserve World Class contest was organized by Diageo Reserve Brands.
Diageo Reserve World Class is recognized as the Oscars of the bartending industry and is a celebration of the craft and knack of the bartender, said the organizers.
Around 10,000 competitors from popular bars around the world took part in the competition; shaking, pouring and stirring to make up an impression.
The Diageo Reserve World Class will travel to four cities in India-Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata, where participants will receive extensive training on the finest spirits while challenges will be held amongst individual brands for vodka, whiskey, rum and single malts.
The judges for the Kolkata competition were well-known bartender Irfan Ahmed, President of Calcutta Wine Club Subhasis Ganguly and regional head of Diageo-Tushar Khandelwal.
