Kolkata hosts beauty contest for married women

Nihar Naturals Sananda Srimati, a beauty pageant for married women, is back with a bang in its fourth year.

The current edition of the contest kicked off on Tuesday at a special Curtain Raiser event, held at Princeton Club here.

Leading actress Priyanka Sarkar, Editor of Sananda magazine Madhumita Chattopadhyay were present at the event, along with the winner of Nihar Naturals Sananda Srimati 2010- Gargi Banerjee, and the first and second runners up – Priyanka Chowdhury and  Laboni Mukherjea-respectively.

“This is an earnest attempt on our part to carve out the woman out of a married lady and help her in rediscovering herself beyond the roles of a wife or a mother,” said Madhumita Chattopadhayay.

This curtain raiser is an endeavor to invite applications from married women across Bengal. Shortlisted contestants will be invited for the preliminary round.

Consequently, ten finalists will be chosen for a month long grooming session under the able guidance of supermodel Nayanika Chatterjee.

During the grooming period each of the ten finalists will be given a complete makeover, in addition to being exposed to sessions on etiquette, diction, etc.

Entry forms for the contest will be published in leading newspapers and magazines like Anandabazar Patrika, The Telegraph, Sananda, Anandalok and Desh.
