Kolkata, Jan 17 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): The theatre lovers of Kolkata witnessed few of the unique forms of the art form as Short and Sweet Theatre of Australia presented seven short plays of different kinds at the Ballantine’s ‘Curtain’s Up’, here on Friday.
The Ballantine’s ‘Curtain’s Up’ is a whole new format of theatre with funny, quirky and short performance.
Short and Sweet Theatre was founded at the Newtown Theatre in Sydney, Australia in January 2002 by Mark Cleary, beginning with the first ever Short+Sweet Theatre festival.
“This is an Australian concept, similar to T20 format of cricket, short and sweet,” actor Ankur Sabharwal said.
“The response in Delhi was great, however, the play was not advertised well here and even the choice of venue could have been better,” Ankur said.
The cast of the plays included named like: Ankur Sabharwal, Adhiraj Chand Katoch, Eisha Chopra and Prashant Sehgal.
Short and Sweet is an Australian based group which has won critical acclaim throughout Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand.
Before touring Kolkata, the Ballantine’s ‘Curtain’s Up’ was staged at multiple cities of India like Mumbai, Delhi, Banglore.
The tour will end after its final show at Pune on Jan 16.
