Kolkata fashion designer lmixes Indo-Pak for Durga puja collection

Kolkata, Sept 20 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) Kolkata-based fashion designer Kavita Tulsian launched her new festive collection titled “Sarhadein-The Border” at her store here on Tuesday.

The collection displayed the fusion between two cultures of two countries-India and Pakistan.

“I have experimented with Pakistani cuts and have used lots of layering”, said Tulsian, whose signature style is Indo-Western.

“I have gone beyond the borders with the launch of this new collection and that too keeping in mind the various festivals celebrated in both the countries,” she said.

City model Subhamita looked dazzling in Tulsian’s creations as she displayed some of the creations from the Sarhadein collection.

The collection comprises of long jackets teamed with long flair skirts and pants having huge girth in the hemline, ready to wear sarees, and anarkali kurtas.

The fabric of the jacket is mainly brocades while the skirt and pants are mostly georgettes or other flowing fabrics, said Tulsian.

The embroidery used is mostly Zardosi with ethnic motifs while the colour palette reminds of the bright hues associated with the festive season.

The designer, who is one of the members of Fashion Designing Council of India, has also come out with a range of ghagras meant for this season.
