Mumbai, Aug 5 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) The Day 3 of India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) (31st July-4th August 4) show at The Grand Hyatt, Mumbai had more than one reason to applaud the Kolkata connection.
The collection has been inspired by the vibrant colours of the nine gems or navaratnas epitomising purity and beauty which was portrayed through soft, flowy, voluminous outfits.
There were rubies, sapphires, emeralds and diamonds that celebrated the essence of a woman, while traditional banarasi brocades teamed with georgettes and chiffons, adorned with surface texturisation complemented the jewellery pieces beautifully.
The wardrobe line comprised corsets coupled with flowy skirts, shararas along with long, layered dresses and quilted trousers. Neutral to vibrant tones corresponding to the nine gems defined the colour story.
Leading Mumbai models strutted the ramp in the elegant yet chic collection alongside the queen of style, Zeenat Aman and Pardes-girl Mahima Chaudhary.
While actor Zeenat Aman graced the ramp in a black and gold anarkali salwar lined by a gold brocade scalloped-border, Mahima Chaudhary dazzled in a self-woven, black and white tussar georgette saree with a red and gold brocade border both designed by Sayantan.
“The garment stood out for its perfect blend of elegance and grace – just right for the occasion,” said Zeenat.
Post the Paoli Dam-Cannes Film Festival wardrobe design, the IIFW show has made Sayantan a more focussed and centred person, and now he has his eyes all set for the coming festive season.
