Kolir Arjun is a complicated family drama. Well, in Bengali Cinema you have to complicate to story at the first place and then remove the knots one after another to make it simple. Kolir Arjun is really a story about a brother who tries his best to save his beautiful sister from being killed!
Raaj, the newcomer, plays Arjun. He has the beautiful sister Koely played by Rachana Banerjee. They are fery fond of each other. Like a good traditional “Bhaifota” and “Rakhi” sentiment supported Bro-Sis relationship.
Things change when Koely (rachana Banerjee) falls in love with Sanjay (played by Suman Banerjee). Even after the great protest from the Sanjay’s family, Koely gets married and starts her new life. The wicked parents of Sanjay start planning to kill Koely and tries several things everyday.
Brother Arjun even saves his Sister one time. But Koely would not believe a word about the conspiracy from anyone till the end of the movie right before she was almost poisoned and then tortured.
Well, there is another love story between Raaj and Sanaa (played by Moubani) which does not work much mentioning.
There are some fight scenes, some sad scenes, come crying time, some dancing – all that you would expect in a boring Bengali Film.

Kolir Arjun (2009) Movie review by Kanishka, CT contributor from Kolkata.
One look at the promos will tell you this movie is not worth watching. An half an hour into the film, you feel like dozing off, which you can’t because of the constant screams of rage, tantrums and the songs which almost drive you crazy. Don’t remember whether I ever had such an awful experience. The story is a one-liner. Koli (Rachana) and Sanjay (Suman Banerjee) love each other. But Suman’s parents are frauds. When koli and Sanjay marry each other, they oppose it as they don’t get dowry and plan to kill Koli as Suman goes out of town .But all the plans are spoiled by the hero Arjun (Played by newcomer Raaj), caring brother of Koli. When Arjun is not beating the goons, he romances Sana (Played by Moubani).
While the story itself is very weak, it does not help that the heavily promoted Raaj can not deliver a proper expression in the film’s lasting time, but one learns to sympathize with his terrible act when one watches Moubani.
Rachana has little to do other than pouring her eyes out. The fight sequences are funny, dialogues have been written deliberately to provide some cheap humor which fail to impress and the lyrics of the songs like “Mutton shik kabab na chicken tanduri” and “bhalobasho kon dish aamar to case jaundice” make you reach for ear pads. Director Partasarathi joardar fails to make any impression .This movie is a waste of time and money as far as I am concerned.
When the Bengali film industry is getting slick with “Kolir Kesto” DEV, the “Kolir Arjun” really needs the whole Mahabharat to bring some crowds to the movie halls.
